A practice of understanding.
ObservaCulture cultivates observation through which understanding may emerge.
Foundational premise
ObservaCulture is the practice of cultivating observation through which understanding may emerge.
It is not a philosophy that prescribes what one should think. It is a practice that develops how one comes to understanding.
The goal is not agreement. The goal is deepening understanding.
I. Observe
Observation begins with presence. Observe what is happening before deciding what it means.
Ask: What am I actually observing? What assumptions am I making? What have I overlooked?
II. Evoke
Every observation evokes something. Rather than suppressing responses or immediately acting on them, explore them.
Ask: What is this experience evoking in me? Does my reaction fit the experience?
III. Unfold
Understanding cannot always be forced. Sometimes clarity arrives through continued observation, reflection, conversation, or time.
Ask: What understanding is beginning to emerge? What action, if any, now seems appropriate?
Non-prescriptive understanding
ObservaCulture does not assume that careful observation leads everyone to the same conclusion. Rather, it assumes that careful observation leads to better-informed conclusions.
Just as a wise teacher may offer different guidance to different students, the appropriate response depends upon the individual, the context, and the relationships involved.
